GROUPS

Groups & Collective Healing

Group settings offer a powerful opportunity for psychological understanding and relational learning. In a carefully facilitated group environment, participants can explore patterns of relating, emotional experience, and interpersonal dynamics in ways that often become more visible within a shared space.

My approach to groups is informed by psychodynamic and psychoanalytic principles, with attention to the emotional field of the group, the relational experience between members, and the ways unconscious processes emerge in collective settings. Groups can create a space where participants begin to recognize familiar relational patterns, experiment with new ways of being with others, and deepen their understanding of themselves.

I have specialized training in group psychotherapy and hold the Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) credential through the American Group Psychotherapy Association. I have also served on the board of the Houston Group Psychotherapy Society, reflecting a longstanding professional commitment to the study and practice of therapeutic groups.

In addition to psychodynamic training, I incorporate somatic awareness and trauma-informed practices drawn from my background in yoga and body-based approaches to healing. This integration allows groups to engage both reflective dialogue and embodied awareness, supporting connection between mind, body, and relational experience.

Trauma-Informed Yoga Groups.‍ ‍

These small groups integrate gentle movement, breath awareness, and mindfulness practices designed to support nervous system regulation and reconnection with the body. Unlike typical yoga classes that focus primarily on physical exercise, these groups are trauma-informed and psychologically oriented, emphasizing safety, pacing, and choice.

Participants are invited to explore the relationship between physical sensation, emotional awareness, and internal experience, with practices that help restore a sense of agency and stability in the body.

These groups may be helpful for individuals who:

  • Experience chronic stress or emotional overwhelm

  • Are recovering from trauma or difficult life experiences

  • Want to reconnect with their body in a supportive environment

  • Are interested in integrating mindfulness, movement, and psychological insight

The focus is not on performance or achieving specific poses, but on cultivating presence, regulation, and embodied self-awareness.

Groups for Psychotherapists

Psychodynamic Consultation Groups

Psychotherapy can be deeply rewarding but also emotionally complex. Even experienced therapists encounter moments of uncertainty, impasse, or powerful emotional reactions within their clinical work.

These consultation groups provide a reflective space for psychotherapists to think together about clinical material through a psychodynamic lens. Through case discussion and collaborative exploration, we attend to:

  • Transference and countertransference dynamics

  • Unconscious communication and enactments

  • Character structure and defenses

  • The emotional atmosphere of treatment

  • Moments of impasse or therapeutic rupture

These groups are appropriate for:

  • Psychotherapists interested in psychodynamic thinking

  • Early-career clinicians seeking consultation

  • Experienced therapists wanting a reflective clinical community

  • Clinicians working with complex or long-term cases

Groups are offered periodically throughout the year and may take place in person in Austin or via telehealth, depending on the group.

If you would like to learn about upcoming groups, schedule a consultation call or join a waitlist, please feel free to reach out.‍ ‍
